keeping Your Guests in Mind

When planning your wedding it’s important to always keep your guests in the back of your mind during the entire planning process. This means making sure that your guests are comfortable and entertained throughout the day. The girls at Simple Elegance have put together some ideas to help make this easier for brides to be.

Begin your celebration by sharing a small token of your appreciation to welcome your guests as they arrive. Create personalized welcome boxes to be left at the hotel. These little boxes can be filled with water, a few small snacks including something sweet and something salty, a map of the area and an itinerary of how the day of the ceremony will be organized. You can arrange for the hotel to deliver them to guests when checking in at the front desk or have them placed in their rooms upon arrival.

First off, if you’ve chosen an outdoor wedding it’s important to remember to keep your guests hydrated! This can be as simple as having two large coolers filled with bottled water at the ceremony. Your guests will be able to grab what they need before the ceremony begins without having to ask. If your reception is also outside think about having yard games set up for guests to enjoy while the bridal party is taking their photos.

It’s hard to imagine rain on your wedding day but as we all know mother nature can be a little unpredictable. Having a backup plan for your outdoor ceremony in case of inclement weather is a must, even if that means moving under a large tent. Your guests will be just as happy as you are that they’re not soaking wet throughout the ceremony.

Once the ceremony ends pictures begin for the bridal party. It’s a good idea to keep your guests entertained while they wait for the pictures to end. Having a cocktail hour is perfect for keeping guests happy. They have the freedom to grab finger foods and drinks while mingling with one another. Placing ice breakers on the tables and little activities such as a bowl of legos or bridal games will help keep guests mingling throughout the night. Keeping the kiddos entertained during this time can be tricky. This is why having a “kids only” table is perfect. Each child will have a coloring book and crayons placed at their seat along with other age appropriate games.

When the bridal party arrives the dancing begins, not all of your guests are going to want to dance the night away. An easy solution to keeping them entertained throughout the evening is a photo booth. Guests can take pictures and make fun memories of your special day.

Incorporating one or all of these ideas will help ensure that you and your guests will enjoy your big day!
