Themed Weddings

Horse and Carriage Wedding

A Princess Wedding

Are you  considering a themed wedding?  Cool!  Wedding themes can offer a unique flair of  fun and it is a great way  to personalize your wedding.  I think a great site to get ideas is from David Tutera’s Wedding Themes

OK so it may be a little over budget but you can still get some great ideas.

Start with asking yourself what kind of style and mood do I want to create for my wedding day;  casual, elegant, romantic…? Do you want your day to be traditional?  You may decide to have a traditional wedding ceremony and then do a themed reception.   You are only limited by your imagination.  You can do so much even if you are on a tight budget.

Know your budget!  Your choice of receptions sites will do much to add to your theme.  When consider your budget just  choose two or three ideas from a theme that really add a the larges visual impact and just use three.   If the skies the limit well go for it!

You can work your theme in all of just part of the day.  Here are some places where you can highlight your style:

  • Color Scheme Fall Colors-Ocean Colors…
  • Transportation Horse and Carriage-Motorcycles, Antique Cars…
  • Site/Location Mansion, Garden,…
  • Attire Your Dress can set the Mood Victorian Lace, Contemporary Chic,…
  • Family Traditions Irish Traditions, German ….
  • Invitations this will definitely set the mood for you day

Other ways to incorporate your theme

  • Time of Year
  • Flowers
  • Centerpieces
  • Favors
  • Guestbook
  • Food/Cake
  • Gift/Cake Tables
  • Altar/Pews

What will make you happy?  Using a theme will help you tie your day together.

You may be thinking a theme is not what I want that may be true but by having a central idea from which to work will make your day a cohesive one.  It will be easier to plan when you have one line of thought just as a story has a theme, the story of your wedding should be the same.  People should be able to follow your day from beginning to end rather than a hodge-podge of stuff.  Girls often get lost in their ideas.  So, choose one idea and run with it.  Stay focused, keep an eye on the bottom dollar and enjoy the process.

So you’re getting married, keep it in perspective. Enjoy the Moment!

  1. One of the more unique ideas we have heard for themes was getting married in a school yard location (with reception in their hall!) for high school sweethearts. We also saw a unique train reception as well.
