Help ease her worries by talking over some of the details with her – What flavor filling the cake have? Who is she going to sit with Aunt Bertha? Do those shades of purple really match? Lend a listening ear and give her advice but let her ultimately make the final decision. It can help to have a second or third opinion, even if that means she decides the opposite of what you suggested. Your support will mean the world to her! There will be many crazy moments throughout the process. It’s important you are a calming support to your friend.
One thing to remember is that being someones bridesmaid will require some financial commitment from you. Most brides expect you to buy your own dress, earrings, shoes and accessories for the wedding day. Others may give them as a gift to you. Be sure that this is something that you discuss with the bride as weddings can become a financial burden. It is okay to ask her!
Being by her side on the big day is the most important job of a bridesmaid. You’ve probably been there for her through the good and the bad, and she asked you to stand up in her wedding for a reason, because she knows you will be there to help her though. The wedding day can sometimes be an emotional roller coaster – with excitement, stress, and nerves. Help to calm her nerves by staying positive, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.
Be on time and help keep the rest of the bridal party on schedule as well. Having a bridal emergency kit can be a huge help for those little snags along the way. Be sure you not to have too many cosmos so you’re able to enjoy the day to its fullest, and the bride isn’t worried about you dancing on the tables – Unless, of course, she’s up there with you!
Above all, have fun. Whether the bride is your sister, or your BFF, she chose you to be by her side on one of the most important days of her life. If you have fun, she will too, and the memories you make together will last a lifetime!
