Wedding Photography Southern Reflections

"There's No Place Like Home!"

Meet Southern Reflections.  Jason and Amanda are a young couple just starting out in the Wedding Photography industry.  Sweet and simple, they really care about their Brides and Grooms.  They work at making sure their couple relive their day when they sit through years and look at their album.  Keep an eye on this couple!

Be sure to visit their website http://southernreflectionsstudio.com/#/home  and don’t forget their blog http://southernreflectionsstudio.com/blog/

Here is what Jason and Amanda had to say!

What is the one thing you wish brides would remember when it comes to their wedding photos?

“As you prepare for your wedding, everything becomes a task you check off your list, including choosing a photographer. However, all brides and grooms are different in the aspect of how they view pictures. To some, the pictures mean everything. To others, it’s just a requirement of the day. So when the time comes and the photos are ready for viewing, we want that experience – from the hugs of guests, to the held-back tears of a groom watching his bride walk down the isle, to the dancing and mingling with friends and family – to simply bring a smile to everyone’s face. The whole occasion is meant to be a happy one and our goal as a photographer is to show that. We strive to capture those emotions that later on, after the wedding bliss has faded, still leave you smiling.”

What makes your style of photography unique?

“We could answer this in a couple of different ways… First, there are two of us. Not only does that mean we capture from two different perspectives, but with being a husband and wife team, it means that those two viewpoints mesh together so well and come together to tell a complete story. Amanda focuses heavily on the details and the little things that matter to the bride the most as she plans out her perfect day. Whereas, Jason tries to capture the things that are most important through the groom’s eyes.

On the other hand, we also strive to stay away from trends and the latest ‘craze’ in the photography world and instead shoot what we like. Although we’re not your ‘traditional’ photographer and we shoot with a much more modern style, a wedding photo nonetheless, should be timeless and something that can stand on its own whenever you look back to it, whether that is in 5 years or 50 years.”

What is your advice to a bride as they look for a photographer?

“Choosing a photographer is much like choosing your mate. Sounds funny, but it’s true. We truly believe there is a right photographer for each person – someone who simply ‘gets you’ and what you want. Whereas one photographer might not work well for one person, they will work perfect for another. Look at it this way, your photographer is one of the few people that will be with you throughout your entire wedding day…from start to finish. Which means, you want someone that you feel comfortable sharing one of your greatest life experiences with, not just a random person that you heard about from a friend’s friend.

A few more pieces of advice…

1) Be completely open and honest with your photographer. Not everyone has the perfect family and hey, let’s face it, sometimes family members simply don’t get along. If that’s the case, please make an effort to let your photographer know so that they can work accordingly. It’ll make your family portraits go that much more smoothly.

 2) Although money is always a huge factor when planning your wedding, try not to let it be the entire driving factor behind who you choose to capture your day. When everything is over, the vows have been read, and the food has been ate, the only thing that you will have left to look back upon are the wedding photos themselves. So while a photographer’s pricing looks daunting at first, try not to let it overwhelm you. It’s an investment that will last for a lifetime.

3) The most important thing to remember: This is your wedding day…don’t forget to have fun and take in everything that the experience has to offer! Whenever the stress of planning becomes too overwhelming, just remind yourself of all the excitement that your new life as husband and wife will hold.”

Thanks!

 Jason and Amanda
